What Is This Blog About?

On January 1st 2010 I started posting one original painting or drawing a day for an entire year. Mixing my love of Fly Fishing with my Painting, the posts are centered around the subject of flies, fish, and the art of Fly Fishing. On December 31 2010 my mission ended but my love of catching fish and painting them lives on. So this blog lives on even if the posts are not updated daily. Fly Fishing Art with Fishing reports and Gear reviews, this blog is your source for all things fishy.

If you enjoy fly fishing and the art of the fly or fly tying, I hope you enjoy this blog. Most of the paintings posted here are for sale as well as the Fish Prints so if you are interested in any of the art here please Email me at jmdjdejong@gmail.com for details or just visit the BUY A FISH PRINT page.

Turkey Day Surprise

First off- Happy Turkey Day.  May your weekend be filled with fun, family, football, and if your lucky, a little bit of fishing. Yesterday I came home from a trip to find a new mug waiting for me.  That's right, my recent Paiute Trout on a mug. So this morning I'll be enjoying some hazelnut brew while watching the balloons with the kidos...... Yippy

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours as well. Great art work my friend. I am thinking about buying a charcoal kit and a water color kit to try my hand at some artwork. Any suggestions for a beginner? check out my blog if ya get a chance, it's bigflychucker.

Hope you had a good Thanksgiving. It was a good day with family and TROUT! My brother and I spent an hour on the river throwing big streamers to hungry trout right before dinner. Doesn't get much better!

-Back at you Brk Trt
-Mike - That sounds great. I would start with a basic beginning set of tube watercolors-the palette colors are not as bright and they are difficult to use for larger works. Check out any craft store for student grade tubes- no need to get right into the Windsor and Newton (they are expensive) Good Luck and cant wait to see your paintings
-Goneflyfishing and LOAH- Thanks and have a great holiday.
-CoFisher - I'm working on it. Trying to get them as inexpensive as possible
-Parker-No it doesn't, family and fish on a nice fall day. Good stuff
-Thanks to you all and hope your holidays are full of joy.
