PT Inked & tying The Fly

Here is a PT Nymph done first in ink then uploaded to a paint program and colored.  the black and white sketch looked good but the added color makes it.

Here is the tied version of what Josh - AKA Bigerrfish - calls Triger Happy and BRK Trout calls No Mystery.  This is the version Josh tied...

As a side note, keep an eye out this week for a posting for a special deal on some paintings from this past year. Why, you might ask? Truth be told I need a new tying vise and need to raise some funds for this hobby of mine. If I can use one hobby to support the other and not invade the old bank account then I'll come out even. My current vise is a table top clamp style beginner vise that works for big flies but cant give my fingers enough room to tie the small stuff. I doesn't rotate and is cumbersome and I am sure that if I get an easier to use vise, my tying will not only improve but become more frequent.

That's my hope anyway.

  1. great idea man!! just a little tip,, check out the "Danvise" its what i use and it was only 85 bucks, it does the rotary, if your in to that, it rotates and has all the goodies, Ties all the way down to a 26 if your careful and all the way up to like 3/0 it clamps to a table or it will drop in to any foot.
after this bracket they go on up to 150+ griffin are rattly by the way, the base and clamp of the danvise is made of high tech plastic... a bit turn off to read in the product description but when you see it, it hits you how far plastic has come over the years and I think its the same stuff they make prosthetic limbs with man! check it out. here is a link to the guy that I got mine from.

I just called the guy asked for the address, checked on mapquest, found it and then gave him my debt card number, he sent the vise with a new pair of scissors, a hackle gauge, a zinger and some yarn, I called and thanked Al personaly.
